Anne Rice was able to tell an entirely new Vampire story, but able to use her already established Vampire lore. For me, that was something I really liked about it.

With Pandora, Anne Rice began a magnificent new series of vampire novels. Vittorio The Vampire (1999) is the second novel in Anne Rice's New Tales of the Vampires series. I think some people don't like it as much due to it being in the Vampire Chronicles universe but doesn't directly connect to any of the other books.
